Knighton Bushes

Knighton Bushes submitted by Junreisha on 14th Dec 2020. I went inside the little copse and soon found some stones. Most were covered with moss so I cleared them off and found a lot of cup marks and holes in them. I am not professional but some definitely look purposeful. I was running low on time but found about 8 stones in all

Log Text: I noticed that this site had no pictures and I have recently been walking this and decided to get some pictures for the site.
It is a lovely walk and can be reached via many routes. I walked from Seven Barrows towards Weathercock Hill.
As you reach the bottom of the slope there is a Copse on the right. You will see a Ditch dividing the field. There are stones in the banks and scattered around the trees. Many are approximately 1.5 m at the longest measure. Moss covered many of them when cleared off I found cup marks and grooves possibly carved into them. I guess the stoners are from the Sarcen Field around Ashdown House. I found what could be a small Barrow about 7 meters in width. I only had a short time there as I was losing light.
I feel there is more to be uncovered and will try to get back and document a bit more thoroughly
