Pointe de Men Maria dolmen submitted by thecaptain on 12th Jul 2006. This poor little dolmen is superbly situated on a little headland which seperates the Saint-Gildas-de-Rhuys harbour from the beach - a very desirable place apart from the car park, within which it is walled.

On the stone, we can see the enigmatic objet in the middle of the statue (copper of flint dagger supported by a cross-belt) and below, the belt perhaps with a (erased) buckle.

The remains are 10 metres in length with large side slabs up to 1.7 metres high placed about 1.2 metres apart making a chamber with an orientation of 074° but there are no cover stones.

Pierres Closes de Charas 1 submitted by thecaptain on 18th Jan 2006. This odd burial chamber can be found to the northwest of the historic Naval town of Rochefort, amongst the marshes of the Charente river estuary.
It consists of an oval shaped chamber which has been carved out of a big solid block of rock, on top of which is a limestone capstone.
