Ffynnon Digain

Ffynnon Digain submitted by TimPrevett on 23rd Sep 2007. A little way to the north of Llangernyw sits St Digain's Holy Well. I found the reference to the well on my OS Map, and it's on a hillside in pasture. I wasn't sure if I found it at the time, but reading Coflein's entry since, that it's under a small stone covering, I must have been practically stood on it when I took this picture of a depression in ground whi...

St Digain (Llangernyw)

St Digain (Llangernyw) submitted by TimPrevett on 23rd Sep 2007. At St Digain's, Llangernyw, there are two ancient cross incised stones on the south side of the building, both crosses fave west. The design on the western stone is near impossible to make out without a guidebook to hand. There are also two rough, unshaped stones which appear out of place amongst the memorials nearby. St Digain's also has a yew reputed to be 4,000 years old, which is worth a look.

Log Text: Very ordinary and uninspiring site, although worth visiting just to consider how ancient monuments are cared for, and the vast numbers of sites that have probably been lost.

Log Text: Excellent condition dolmen sited in woodland. Well signposted from track, searchable on Google Maps.
The dolmen clearly would have once stood proud in the landscape but several centuries of leaf litter have raised the ground level surrounding it.
