Sinsener Wallburg submitted by Harald_Platta on 27th Feb 2022. The Sinsener Wallburg is a fortification in Marl (North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany). It consists of a central rampart system and an outer rampart. Discovered potsherds date from the 8th century and suggest that the fortification was built by the carolingians.
The picture shows the area of the outer rampart in the south-west.

Visited: Yes on 7th Mar 2026. My rating: Condition 3 Ambience 4 Access 3
Lintern Grosssteingrab submitted by Martin_L on 11th Mar 2011. Pole aerial view from the west. According to Jacob-Friesen, Sprockhoff and Schwieger [3] the chamber originally had 4 capstones , 4 uprights on each longside and a size of appr. 8m x 3m (clear 6m x 2m).
Two large stones in the west and east were interpreted as chamber-endstones. One upright of the southern longside is missing. One capstone is fallen into the chamber and partly overgrown now. Another one is slightly out of place, but still resting on its uprights. The westernmost and the easter...

Ueffeln Huegelgrab 3 submitted by XIII on 26th Jul 2015. Easy to miss. First time I walked from the road to the Wiemelsberger Steine, I completely missed it even though its just a few metres from the path. I knew it was there so I was looking for it on the way back to the road. Only then I noticed the information sign showing where it is.

Date Added: 8th Mar 2026
Site Type: Natural Stone / Erratic / Other Natural Feature
Country: Germany (Lower Saxony, Bremen)
Visited: Yes. My rating: Condition 5 Ambience 4 Access 5
Matthiesings Opferstein submitted by AlexHunger on 13th Apr 2007. Sacrifice stone in use since about 2000 BCE.
According to legend, the devil tried to throw this rock at the local church. Just as he did this, the neighbouring farmer's cock crowed, breaking the devil's concentration.
The stone then turned around it's axis.
Fittingly accross the road from a cemetary.

Seester Sloopsteene
Date Added: 8th Mar 2026
Site Type: Chambered Tomb
Country: Germany (North Rhine-Westphalia)
Visited: Yes on 7th Mar 2026. My rating: Condition 1 Ambience 2 Access 5

Seester Sloopsteene submitted by Martin_L on 14th May 2008. When Professor Körner and Professor Laux examined the tomb in 1969 for Sprockhoff's Atlas der Megalithgräber 10 large stones still were preserved.
In 2008 only 2 larger and 3 smaller stones (the latter are visible on this picture an numbered 3,4,5) could be made out. A stack of wood covered parts of the tomb, but it is obviously to small to hide all other missing stones. So most probably further stones got lost since 1969.
