Swinside

Swinside submitted by AngieLake on 19th Apr 2020. This large block is stone 30 at the South of Swinside circle. It was one of the focal points in a dowse I did there on 19th June 2002, the evening I met Jack Morris Eyton. It was the link with moves 17 and 18 in this plan.

Log Text: This is a lovely site, at the top of the hill, pathway past the farm route is a nightmare unless you are in a 4x4 so park up and walk the narrow pothole ridden path.

Stones are large and mostly upright, great views across the valley, we had clouds about 50m above us which made it very atmospheric.

Stonehenge.

Stonehenge. submitted by Horatio on 22nd Oct 2023. One from my latest trip to SH a few weekends ago. I watched one sunrise and three sunsets and was lucky to experience brilliant displays especially with the sunsets. I shared this time (the setting sun) from about 5-8pm with some interesting and like minded people all here for that 'connection' that SH gives. This year on my megalithic adventures I've been to Dartmoor for a week, Cumbria for 12 days and Avebury but it's always, always Stonehenge that REALLY has the extra special something.

Overchurch

Overchurch submitted by Creative Commons on 12th Feb 2014. Overchurch Park is the area of grass and woodland bordered by Royden Road, the Upton By-pass, Moreton Road and the Overchurch Estate. It includes Overchurch Graveyard and the site of a Norman Church, the earliest references to the church are in 1347. In the mid 20th century odd shaped stones were discovered nearby which had strange inscriptions on them. After examination by an expert the strange stones were concluded to be ancient Saxon Runes. Dated to the 7th century this "bidding stone" is on ...

Ménec alignements

Ménec alignements submitted by thecaptain on 18th Oct 2004. Ménec alignements, north of Carnac, Brittany, France. View of the Ménec alignements as they were in summer 1987, when you could walk amongst them before they were fenced off, and with an awful lot of erosion going on around them.

Bidston Hill Rock Carvings

Bidston Hill Rock Carvings submitted by dodomad on 13th Mar 2014. Having cleaned it up we celebrated with a good cheer of our discovery. It was indeed the Moon Goddess which has been in an unknown location for many years. This was a great moment for Hidden Wirral Myths & Legends as we had found something that has evaded many before us who had been in search of the carving. She has a body with a moon situated beneath her and is holding what looks like a key in her hand. and this was the final result. The carvings are extremely delicate. Please do no...

Avebury

Avebury submitted by creators on 27th May 2005. I have been reluctant to submit this picture because it is a composite, taken on the same day in the same place but still a composite. It is AngieLake's exquisitely named 'receptors' hands receiving the moon and a picture I love. So a composite done tenderly of Avebury that is at my very heart.
