Log Text: Easy to find if you head straight up the hill to Chun Castle and then look west from the gateway. A massive mushroom in the bracken.

We have parked outside the farm below on the southern side of hill, then you are straight onto the moorland and there is a clear footpath up to the castle. Bumped into the resident once and no problems. The lane to this spot is rather windy and few passing points however.

Mulfra Quoit

Mulfra Quoit submitted by Bladup on 26th May 2026. Mulfra Quoit, On one of the hottest days in May (ever!!!), I've certainly never drank my flask so quickly, As it was soooo hot!!!

Log Text: We parked on the Eastern side if Mulfra Hill - just up from the junction is the entrance to a small quarry and space for 2 or three vehicles.

We followed the footpath across the saddle of the hill and then turned up towards the peak. The dolmen sits just underneath the top of the hill overlooking mounts bay. The ground is thick with heather and gorse, but a well worn footpath will take you there.
The view is spectacular, although we only had it for ten minutes or so until the low cloud swept in and created a very different atmosphere.

Bodrifty Settlement

Bodrifty Settlement submitted by ocifant on 27th Jan 2004. One of the better defined hut circles

Log Text: The site is very overgrown with bracken and gorse, and therefore difficult to interpret as a whole or find the features. You have to be right on top of a hut circle to find it - athough there are a few uprights/doors just visible. It is very close to the Tinners Way - but could easily be missed in the dense vegetation. We used a plan of the site from Weatherhills 'Cornovia' and followed the field boundaries to locate features.

Closest access is gateway just to East that leads onto the Tinners way, however we walked across from Mulfra Hill.

Lanyon Quoit

Lanyon Quoit submitted by Dodomad on 4th Mar 2026. Here's a photo taken around 1860 of Lanyon Quoit which must be one of the earliest photographic images of it. It was published by William Spreat of Exeter as a stereoview. It is No. 131 in his series and has this printed text on the back. all the best, Tom Greaves

Log Text: A short hop over the wall from a convienient layby, ruinous cairns and possible cists are close by - see Wetherill for a plan of these. The quoit is not in its original form - after collapsing and reconstruction. I've always felt it has a slightly odd/unbalanced look!

Log Text: Short walk from Lanyon Quoit, the bracken and gorse is getting heavy - you can just see the rocks peeking up when look NE across the valley. Follow the narrow, but well worn paths - aim for in between the two telegraph poles close to the boundary wall that seperates the moorland from the green pasture. It is well worth the stroll if you are visiting Lanyon Quoit. A beuatiful example.
