The museum displays finds from the prehistoric and ancient time of the area as well as collections from ancient assyria, greece, egypt and rome.
It is especially famous for the oldest known pieces of art from the UNESCO World Heritage sites Caves and Ice Age Art in Swabian Jura.

Like nearly all other dead of the Sengkofen LBK (Linear Pottery Culture) cemetery, the man of grave No. 24 is lying on his left side with flexed feet. A stone axe was buried with him as a grave good. The piece of deer horn near his hips had belonged to his clothing.

Grave No. 9 contained the bones of a man (ca. 30-40 years old) and grave goods from the early 7th century.
