Unkenstein submitted by Harald_Platta on 6th Jul 2017. The Unkenstein was used as a marker stone in Duisburg (North Rhine-Westphalia/Germany) at least since medieval times. Several legends are told about the stone. The original stone is lost since 200 years. Today, a modern standing stone can be seen at the original site.

Tho Sollynck submitted by Harald_Platta on 31st Mar 2017. Tho Sollynck is an old vehmic court site in Heiden (North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany). Like in the case of other vehmic court sites, it has been speculated that a Germanic thing site might have been the predecessor.
The site was reconstructed in 1961.

Syburg Cross-Stone submitted by Harald_Platta on 2nd May 2015. The cross-stone of Syburg can regularly be seen at the church St. Peter zu Syburg in Dortmund (North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany). This photo was taken of the original stone, which was part of the temporary special exhibition "Werdendes Ruhrgebiet" in the Ruhr Museum Essen in 2015.
The stone displays a sun cross, which resembles the pagan symbol for the sun disc. The double line at the right side stems from the same time.
The other cross is an old saltire ("old missionary cross").

The visitor has to put the head into the hole of the stone and breath out in a humming tone. The echoed vibrations are felt within the body of the visitor.

The visitor has to put the head into the hole of the stone and breath out with a humming tone. The sound is supposed to be echoed from the stone back towards the visitor, which is supposed to be felt within the body of the visitor.

The stone carries the inscriptions of the names of the people that have been burried in this part of the cemetery wood without further grave markings. Another standing stone has been erected close by, possibly as a future second Summstein.
