The well and also the park have been destroyed in World War II. Today, this site lies under the driving surface of a street. Like nearly all other dead of the Sengkofen LBK (Linear Pottery Culture) cemetery, the man of grave No. 24 is lying on his left side with flexed feet. A stone axe was buried with him as a grave good. The remains of an ancient settlement were discovered on a modern construction site in Bochum (North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany) in October 2016. Several outlines of houses, post holes and pits were found.It us currently assumed that the setlement is 4000 years old and could represent one of the few known Bronze Age settlements in this area. It consists of a central rampart system and an outer rampart. Discovered potsherds date from the 8th century and suggest that the fortification was built by the carolingians. Only the top is visible, the lower parts are obscured by the sloping terrain in the foreground. The other barrows are even more difficult to see. The trees background left indicate another barrow.
