Cross of the Scriptures (Clonmacnoise) submitted by Sunny100 on 6th Sep 2010. The Famous 9th century 'Cross of the Scriptures', a 4 metre tall high cross at the monastic site of Clonmacnois. It has scenes from the life of Christ and other biblical episodes. Also, a panel shows St Ciaran founding the first section of his monastery - which is represented by a tree.

This renowned high cross, made from sandstone, stands at 18 feet tall and dates from 900 CE. It commemorates abbot Muiredach who died in 923 CE, and is richly sculptured with biblical scenes.

After sunset at the wonderful Carrowmore Tomb 7 (We can all do better with names, can't we?), In the background is Knocknarea (Cnoc na Riabh) with the huge Maeve's cairn (Miosgan Meadhbha) on top of it. This Original Artwork in a glass frame is £39.99 + Postage (Just whatever it costs), and is 17 cm x 11 and a half cm. The enigmatic Gallarus Oratory on the Dingle Peninsula, Co. Kerry, Ireland. The date of it's construction is a matter for debate: some scholars put it around 600AD and others as late as 1200AD. Not pre-historic, but interesting.
