Log Text: It was totally worth the visit - it's a spectacular site as the pictures here show. Getting there wasn't easy but also not as difficult as I'd feared - we managed to get there with a toddler (mostly carried) and 4 y.o. (who mostly walked) and a not very outdoorsy group.

Key points - don't park by the house , park by the road further up. There are no paths but I navigated by seeing where the loch was and looking on Google maps, and it wasn't difficult to navigate or find it this way. By the standards of rough ground in the hebrides, it isn't bad and perfectly walkable - no high heather, a few boggy bits but not much, only one fence on the way but it has a gate. One stream which had two points that were crossable. So I feel it's more of a 2 than a 1

Dun Buidhe

Dun Buidhe submitted by Glaschu on 3rd Jun 2026. Looking at Dun Buidhe and causeway from the first island

Log Text: Access - it's easy to get to the causeway. You walk across one island which is rough ground but nothing too difficult (we did it with small kids). Then if you want to get to the island dun then there's a second causeway of large boulders to scramble across (we left the kids behind at this point). On this second island the vegetation is very overgrown and it's difficult to get around or see where to put your feet. So while not easy, there aren't many duns you can get to on the original causeway without getting wet
