Ffynnon Llewellyn - Holy Well or Sacred Spring in Powys The site of the death of Prince Llewellyn The Great, the last native-born Prince of Wales. The well is reputedly the place in which the severed head of the murdered prince was washed before being taken to King Edward the First in London. The inscription in English and Welsh "Legend has it that this is the well in which the head of Llewellyn ap Gruffydd was washed"

The stone bears a Latin inscription from the Romano-British period; this inscription recalls HIC JACET ULCAGNIUS FILIUS SENOMACILI which is probably translated as 'Here lies Ulcagnus (Olcanus) son of Senomaglus' and is thought to date from between 500-510 AD. The stone is in the vestry, easily accessible

The spring can no longer be seen as it has long since been channelled under ground through the garden of the house, under the road to emerge in the garden of a house across the road. The spring originally emerged at the base of a cliff immediately behind the house. Now named "The Old Vicarage", the house was originally named "Ffynnon Catwg"
