This modern (1953) statue of the Virgin Mary reputedly stands on the site of the medieval well that was removed and destroyed on the orders of Henry VIII. Penrhys was one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Britain until its destruction

Ffynnon Gwyddfan submitted by geoffstickland on 31st Mar 2019. This site is a complex hydrological system utilising an underground spring. There is a subterranean well and above it a baptismal pool. The various valves and paddles do not seem to have been used for a very long time.
