Lady's Well (Holystone) submitted by KiwiBetsy on 5th Dec 2004. Lying silently among a fenced grove of trees is a large, shallow, horizontal arch shaped pool thought to have been built by the Romans over an even older site.

Log Text: A short walk across the fields from the village of Holystone (is well signposted, so you can't get lost). The field is also quite special, with a peaceful ambience. We visited late in the afternoon, and it was very quiet. This is beautiful, tranquil place. The water in the well is crystal clear, with the water continuously running. The trees surrounding the well seem to have been specially chosen to reinforce the sacredness of this site: Yew, Beech, Holly. I am studying/visiting places with a connection to the Divine Feminine, and this, The Lady's Well, felt very special to me..would like to find out more! Highly recommended if you want a place to be still, to meditate and 'switch off' for an hour. A place to find inner-peace and solitude.
