Site Type: Round Barrow(s)
Country: England (Devon)
Visited: Yes on 1st Jan 2016
Lundy Barrow submitted by Firewater on 6th Aug 2004. Close to a feature known as Halfway Wall this barrow lies just to the west of the main footpath. It's fairly typical of what you find all over the island although there are variations. Some have stone-lined cists beneath them and some have more surface stones than this one.

Lundy John O'Groats
Date Added: 9th Aug 2020
Site Type: Round Barrow(s)
Country: England (Devon)
Visited: Yes on 1st Jan 2016
Lundy John O'Groats submitted by Firewater on 6th Aug 2004. This is the view from inside John O'Groats on Lundy Island. Lundy's in the middle of the Bristol channel about 22 miles off the north Devon coast.
The guide books only ever describe this site as "prehistoric" but much of the other archaeology in this area is Bronze Age.
The whole of the island is a very peaceful place but this spot seems particularly quiet

Lundy Settlement submitted by Firewater on 6th Aug 2004. There are a number of field boundaries still in place and the foundations of a collection of hut circles. This is one of them. If you look carefully on the horizon at the extreme right of this photo you might also spot a Bronze Age burial mound.
