West Tump submitted by drolaf on 27th Jan 2017. West Tump (Cranham) long barrow is about 60 metres long, and faces east. It lies in quiet mixed and beech woodland, so is in good condition and is not hard to find, up the hill but not on the crest. There is also what might be a ww2 bunker nearby.
Trees on the barrow have been felled and brushwood marks the barrow borders, and acts as a barrier to off road bicycles. The barrow's future seems secure.

One of the finest examples of prehistoric rock art in the Peak District. Discovered in 1965 on a large earthfast boulder 25m east of the enclosure , the design consists of a series of cup and ringmarks together with a small spiral and two circles that enclose multiple cupmarks.
