Pen y Ddinas Hillfort - possible

Pen y Ddinas Hillfort - possible submitted by geoffstickland on 10th Jan 2021. The fort viewed from the South. The hill is covered with recent clear-fell forestry and a range of juvenile and semi-mature commercial conifer trees.

Log Text: Given the location and access in ancient times, possibly a good site for a hill fort. If anything remains, it certainly isn't visible but digging would likely reveal. There is good access up the sides in a spiral fashion. Great views if you can get up there.

Parc Gwyn Standing Stone

Log Text: Hedging is new and now very strong, with new fencing. I hopped the gate and had a good look around but could not find a stone. It is possible that it is hidden by the hedges or completely removed.

Site Type: Ring Cairn Country: Wales (West Glamorgan)
Visited: Yes on 6th Sep 2026. My rating: Condition 1 Ambience 4 Access 2

Cefn Bryn SW Cairn

Cefn Bryn SW Cairn submitted by TheCaptain on 25th Jun 2013. A few hundred metres to the northwest of the Trig Point on top of Cefn-Bryn can be found what looked to me to be the remains of a ring cairn, but may in fact be a denuded platform or round cairn. Viewed here looking northeast across the northwest coast of the Gower peninsula towards Llanelli on the far side of the River Loughor estuary.

Log Text: Agreed with previous comments. There is a ring of elevated rockier ground, approx 10 to 12 m in diameter that interacts the path. The ground in the centre is lower than the ring. Does appear to be something.

Penmaen Burrows

Penmaen Burrows submitted by paulcall on 1st Dec 2006. Found 400metres down a track south-east from Penmaen village towards Threecliff Bay. It is quite ruined, and not mentioned in the otherwise comprehensive 'The Ancient Stones of Wales' by Chris barber and John Williams. However, it is marked clearly on O.S. map 159, but I found it surprisingly tricky to find when I visited.

Log Text: The track from penmaen is in reasonable condition. Once you get onto the headland, stick to the left path on the three cliffs side. Look for a small path on the right which will be about 100 meter before the signposted turnoff to the beach/park mill.
