Site Type: Souterrain (Fogou, Earth House)
Country: England (Cornwall)
Visited: Yes on 29th Jul 2023. My rating: Condition 4 Ambience 4 Access 3

Carn Euny Fogou submitted by AngieLake on 2nd Jan 2005. This shot shows the huge but low (4.5ft - 1.4m) SE-facing doorway of the Carn Euny 'Beehive Hut' underground chamber, with its own short passage leading into the fogou passage which runs SW/NE, (but snaking here with a flatter, more W/E run), just outside the doorway. Carn Briw
Date Added: 3rd Dec 2024
Site Type: Cairn
Country: Wales (Pembrokeshire)
Visited: Yes on 19th Oct 2024. My rating: Condition 2 Ambience 4 Access 3

Carn Briw submitted by pab on 21st Oct 2007. Carn Briw, from the northern slopes of Mynydd Ingli, on which the wonderful Carn Ingli 'sits' - or should that be 'is enthroned'?
COFLEIN refers to this as simply "A disturbed cairn, 17m in diameter and 1.8m high." The name Carn Briw in fact means just ...'shattered heap of stones'!
What a sad name for such an atmospheric place.

Visited: Yes on 17th Oct 2023. My rating: Condition 2 Ambience 5 Access 1

Carn Alw submitted by Horatio on 27th Aug 2019. Carn Alw hill fort from the west, hard to see but from about the level of the dip in the crags running to the right is a broad, carefully delimited zone of 'chevaux-de-frise'. Not easy to see in this photo and stupidly I was stood amongst it admiring and commenting on it and I totally forgot to get 'the photo'. Where the path leads in from the viewers point, it goes through the defensive wall angled left (by the rush) and up on to a fairly level platform, where I guess the houses may have been...

Caer Caradoc (Church Stretton) submitted by TimPrevett on 28th Jun 2004. Caer Caradoc, taken from a northwest angle on a lovely summer's morning. Indeed, this offers some formidable defense. If this were the place of Caratacus' last stand against the Romans, this would have indeed been something difficult to conquer, even by Roman standards. However, there is no evidence to confirm this suggestion.
