Log Text: Attempted to locate, but heather and gorse growth made it virtually impossible. Fairly sure I found level ground with a circular banked edge at point 1 - SH 1391 2564 (very visible on LiDAR), however points 2 and 3 eluded me (can't seem to find them on LiDAR).

Mynydd Rhiw Neolithic axe factory
Date Added: 5th Apr 2024
Site Type: Ancient Mine, Quarry or other Industry
Country: Wales (Gwynedd)
Visited: Yes on 24th Mar 2024. My rating: Condition 1 Ambience 4 Access 3

Mynydd Rhiw Neolithic axe factory submitted by pab on 8th Feb 2009. Neolithic axe factory on Mynydd Rhiw, Lleyn Peninsular. The disturbed ground is from the 2007 excavations referred to elsewhere in these postings - having left it till now to post, I assume they will no longer show on the ground.
The picture is taken looking north-east, so both Caernarfon Bay and Cardigan Bay can be seen - with Yr Eifi and its magnificent iron age settlement visible on the skyline leading towards Snowdonia.

In the foreground is one of the enormous bronze age barrows (grid reference SU64042056), which has been hollowed out at some point (by those in search of treasure?). There are a variety of barrows in and around the hillfort.

Oldox Camp submitted by Bladup on 22nd Apr 2013. There are 2 humps here that seem like the natural entrance to Oxton camp, the one in the picture is the slightly bigger one [called Robin Hood's Pot] and the start of the other is going out the photo on the left, I think they're natural but one has a little barrow on it.

Ox Low submitted by twentytrees on 7th Jun 2006. A rare Oval barrow 19.5x12m located on a shelf of land below Bradwell Moor looking west between Ox Low hill and Eldon Hill, to the barrow on Gautries Hill. Oval barrows are usually dated to the Neolithic although finds of a boar's tusk and perforated stone hammer suggest this one was reused in the Bronze Age.
