Machrie Moor 5 submitted by jeffrep on 30th Jul 2013. Machrie Moor 5, sometimes called "Fingal's Cauldron Seat," consists of two almost perfectly preserved rings of granite boulders.
The Machrie Moor Stone Circles are located at the end of a 1-1/2 mile track that is off of the A841 (some 200 yards south of the bridge where the main road crosses the Machrie Water) and three miles north of Blackwaterfoot in the western part of the Isle of Arran in North Ayrshire, Scotland.

Machrie Moor 10 submitted by AngieLake on 8th Sep 2008. Stones at the SW of the Moss Farm Road (or Machrie Moor 10) circle. The stone on the left resembles the head and shoulders of a hooded person. It faces into the circle, and towards the NE and Midsummer sunrise. There's a dip in the hills at NE, and my ritual movement dowsing headed out of the circle in that direction. Its inner face also seems to have a circular carving.

Aligned southeast to northwest, the barrow mound is now about 24 metres long, although originally it would have been longer and still survives to a height of about a metre and width of 13 metres at the southeast end behind the chamber to about 8 metres at the northwestern end. This collapsed burial chamber still has two large uprights in situ, another horizontal slab behind the tomb is believed to be the capstone of the collapsed burial chamber. Dorchester, Tudor Arcade submitted by TimPrevett on 3rd Nov 2003. When in Dorchester, I just had to check out the report in Bill Putnam's book "Dorset: The Prehistoric Age" that there were red markings in Waitrose Car Park, Dorchester, denoting sites of larger timber posts, which formed part
of a timber circle. Quote "parts of a large timber circle have been
discovered surrounding a projected area of around 380 metres in diameter.
Apparently some 600 mature oak tree trunks would have been required for its construction. A radiocarbon date for it is about 210...
