Site Type: Misc. Earthwork Country: England (West Sussex)

Graylingwell Earthwork

Graylingwell Earthwork submitted by CoppellaiaMatta on 12th Feb 2025. New playing fields are being built in the park, they reach the edges of the iron age dyke but don't overrun it. I think it would be nice to have some information points to help people understand the landscape they are moving in, as part of the redevelopment.

Log Text: A pleasant city walk. Very little remains of the actual Roman walls, as the structure has collapsed and has been rebuilt through the centuries, but it gives a pretty good idea of what the old Noviomagus would have looked like in terms of size, road network, gates and so on.

Log Text: Not advertised, probably because all that remains of the Amphitheatre is a rounded mound, and yet it's easy, once there, to imagine what it would have looked like.
