There is a replica of the piraeus lion in historiska museet, stockholm, where the runes are coloured. after i saw that copy, of course i wanted to see the real statue. the runes are graffity from vikings who went to greece (actually, quite many went to greece, at least, that's what swedish rune stones tell us). on this site, a typical viking age serpent with a body of runes can be seen. on the other side, there are some straight lines of runes inscriptions: "§a ... these runes. they ... ...
