Log Text: It's always a special feeling to visit a place where you know that thousands of years ago, people stood here and performed their rituals. A beautiful walk around the moor is possible, and there are now several information boards.

The three graves found in Borum Eshøj is the best preserved oak chests in Denmark. About 1871 the barrow was excavated and three oak coffins was discovered containing an old woman, an young man and a old man. The oak chests is dated to about 1350 BC. During the excavation most of the soil was removed. The original size was 7 x 40 meter. Now 3 meter steel strips mark the original circumference. It has been one of Denmark´s largest burial mounds. The biggest tomb of the island Fyn.
The beautiful passage grave Mårhøj lies on a natural hill and
therefore looks extra impressive. The 10 m long and about 2 m wide tomb
was excavated in 1868 by the local farm owner Sun.
He found some human bones and an amber bead as the only
remains of Neolithic burials.
In the corridor stood an urn with burnt bones, but it must have been
from the Late Bronze Age or per...

Just over the border from Drenthe into Groningen province lies what remains of the G1 hunebed at Noordlaren. Actually, its just outside the village down a well signposted track in a small copse on the edge of wide fields. What's left is possibly only 15% of the original hunebed and is pretty impressive in its own right.
