The surface shows at least 20 (I assume there were several more) weathered cup-marks from the Neolithic or Bronze age. Size and depth varying. 4 cupmarks are in a square-like arrangement. “Hexenstein” means “Stone of the Witch” / “Witch's Stone”. March 2010

Log Text: Located right next to a large industrial area, this megalithic tomb has also survived the centuries. Easy to reach, but only before sowing because of the lack of a path.

Log Text: According to information from local people, this tumulus dates from the Neolithic Age (not the Bronze Age!). It is quite easy to reach on foot and there is a beautiful viewing platform next to it.

Smallish 1.5 Meters by 1.9 Meters menhir with with unusually rounded cap stone, surounded by 6 boulder sized uprights and surounded by large vestigial tumulus. The Dolmen was discovered in 1972 and restored in 1975. The plaque says the dolmen dates to 2000 BCE, though this seems a little late for this type of monument. To the side of the parking lot in front of the Sports complex. Close to Wolfsburg, home of the VW Beetle.

Ober Ochtenhausen Grabhuegel submitted by CharcoalBurner89 on 7th Mar 2021. A total of 14 large and small tumuli are hidden here in the Ober Ochtenhausen district. Most of the tumuli have a diameter of about 15-20 meters and a current height of only a few centimeters to 2 meters. They are from the older and middle Bronze Age (approx. 1600 to 1200 BC). The finds from the tumuli are in the State Museum of Lower Saxony in Hanover (both weapons and jewelry were found).

Log Text: Just follow the path to the dolmen and hike the path a little bit longer after it. The tumuli can be easily recognized from the path. Unfortunately the information board is very badly weathered.

Log Text: At a certain point there is no more fixed path, so you have to fight your way through nature. The stone grave is visible but not very clear because it is mostly overgrown.

The hint for the hardly available car parking space is good, as you have to walk for some time before you can enter the forest.

The barrow was believed to have no chamber, but Prof. van Giffen an his team (who were invited to examinate and excavate this site) discovered the passage grave chamber. It was well preserved except for the capstones.
