Rökstenen submitted by Meginring on 18th Feb 2007. The four metric tonne Rökstenen is decorated with some 800 runes, carved on all sides and also on the top. It is the longest and most intricate runic inscription known in the world today.

Log Text: Because of the size and the length of the written rune text, it is probably the most impressive rune stone I have seen so far. A really detailed information center is just near the stone by the south of the church.

Log Text: Several thousand stones were erected here by the National Socialist government. As a result, several previously preserved megalithic graves in the vicinity of Verden were probably destroyed. After its dark past as a National Socialist meeting place, the area now belongs to the Lutheran Church and is used as a local recreation area.
