Everstorfer Forst Nord (4) submitted by maddy on 7th Sep 2008. August 2008 - Its not so destroyed you can't see it although getting a picture is easier said than done!

Log Text: The stones can hardly be made out in the forest, but they are visible and easier to spot because of the tumulus that is still there.

Everstorfer Forst Nord (5)

Everstorfer Forst Nord (5) submitted by holger_rix on 9th Apr 2008. German info: 'Urdolmen unter Bodenniveau mit Deckstein und Einstiegsplatte' Burial Chamber with (broken) capstone. Somebody broke the capstone into two pieces. Obviously the split didn't work out as planned, so the smaller part fall into the chamber and was left there. What a pity !

Log Text: Heavily disturbed and destroyed megalithic tomb. However, which is very nice, it is still clearly visible and the former chamber can still be made out.

Log Text: Here the stone setting and the former burial chamber are still very well preserved, although the tumulus is badly eroded. More recently, clearing work seems to have been needed after the storms and the dying pine forests. Therefore, the megalithic tomb is more "open air" now.

Log Text: Badly damaged megalithic tomb and rather small. Still nice to find it next to all the others here in the area.

Log Text: Note from me: The completion of a new building is currently planned for the year 2030. The museum may be open to the public for another 1-2 years before the new building begins. So if you don't want to wait, you should plan your visit now or wait for the reopening (which should be more impressive).
