It is dated 650 - 500 BCE.
The Standing Stone is about 2 metres high,
and has a lot of cup holes.
The circle of stones was added some time later, between
900 or 1000.

Just over the border from Drenthe into Groningen province lies what remains of the G1 hunebed at Noordlaren. Actually, its just outside the village down a well signposted track in a small copse on the edge of wide fields. What's left is possibly only 15% of the original hunebed and is pretty impressive in its own right.

D1 Steenbergen submitted by Martin_L on 12th Jan 2012. Pole aerial view from the NW. Skeleton of a 12m by 3m-3,6m passage grave. Capstone C3 (counting from the West) is damaged and was fallen when Professor van Giffen examined the site in the 1920s, but later placed back. Otherwise chambers' megalithic structure was well preserved. The chamber is more than halfways embedded into a sand dune. Clear height reduced to less than 0,6m. Possibly there also are remains of the barrow.

No traces of passage or enclosure. The chamber is deeply embedded into the sandy ground/remains of its covering barrow.

The biggest tomb of the island Fyn.
The beautiful passage grave Mårhøj lies on a natural hill and
therefore looks extra impressive. The 10 m long and about 2 m wide tomb
was excavated in 1868 by the local farm owner Sun.
He found some human bones and an amber bead as the only
remains of Neolithic burials.
In the corridor stood an urn with burnt bones, but it must have been
from the Late Bronze Age or per...
