King Arthur's Round Table

King Arthur's Round Table submitted by h_fenton on 1st Oct 2010. King Arthur's Round Table. I tried to fly the kite here but the wind was too inconsistent to safely get the camera high enough. Here instead of a kite I used a carp fishing pole, with a camera attachment on the end to lift my camera higher (6-7 metres). 10 September 2010

Machrie Moor 10

Machrie Moor 10 submitted by AngieLake on 8th Sep 2008. Stones at the SW of the Moss Farm Road (or Machrie Moor 10) circle. The stone on the left resembles the head and shoulders of a hooded person. It faces into the circle, and towards the NE and Midsummer sunrise. There's a dip in the hills at NE, and my ritual movement dowsing headed out of the circle in that direction. Its inner face also seems to have a circular carving.

Machrie Moor 5

Machrie Moor 5 submitted by jeffrep on 30th Jul 2013. Machrie Moor 5, sometimes called "Fingal's Cauldron Seat," consists of two almost perfectly preserved rings of granite boulders. The Machrie Moor Stone Circles are located at the end of a 1-1/2 mile track that is off of the A841 (some 200 yards south of the bridge where the main road crosses the Machrie Water) and three miles north of Blackwaterfoot in the western part of the Isle of Arran in North Ayrshire, Scotland.

Giant's Graves (Isle of Arran)

Giant's Graves (Isle of Arran) submitted by tsujigiri on 28th Jul 2005. First shot from behind the site. The day was a bit rainy off and on and the overcast sky made the lighting a bit iffy for my digital camera. The climb up was very invigorating and well worth the effort. Unfortuneately, I neglected to get a shot from the front of the main site. Maybe next time I'm up there.

Stronach Standing Stone submitted by valters_grivins on 25th Oct 2010. Arran primary school standing stone. It was the first megalith we saw in our Arran trip. I guess moving litter bin some 10 meters away from the stone would be good option... October 2nd, 2010.

Log Text: A henge - in my opinion - with a single entrance, one bank and ditch remaining. An outer bank and ditch appears to have been mostly destroyed by ploughing but what remains now protected by fencing. On site appears more circular than rectangular. Good access in winter.

Harland Moor

Harland Moor submitted by kelpie on 23rd Feb 2004. This circle consists of twelve edge-set boulders. It has a hollow in the centre thought to be a medieval ore-pit. To the south lies a cairn field and a stone that I believe to be an outlier to the circle. SE 67571 92656

Log Text: A long barrow - see
https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1013603?section=official-list-entry
Appears to be damaged through excavation (a slice removed immediately behind entrance blocking stones?) but access close to is not possible as the area is fenced and also topped by electric fencing which seems somewhat unnecessary?
Two round barrows/cairns close by and seemingly in alignment also of interest.

Beware an impressive looking standing stone in an adjacent field! Placed there by the farmer for grazing sheep to rub against.
