Carn Euny Fogou submitted by AngieLake on 2nd Jan 2005. This shot shows the huge but low (4.5ft - 1.4m) SE-facing doorway of the Carn Euny 'Beehive Hut' underground chamber, with its own short passage leading into the fogou passage which runs SW/NE, (but snaking here with a flatter, more W/E run), just outside the doorway. It is possible that the sun was meant to shine down t...

From Mawnan village follow the signs for about 1 mile to the Mawnan Old Parish Church which is situated on the clifftop 4 miles southwest of Falmouth Bay. The church dates from the 13th century. The well is on private land in the garden of The Rectory. A gate guards steep steps down to a sunken path leading to the well. St Mawnan’s Well is still blessed with fresh, clear water and the ambiance is magical. The well has bee...

Piskey’s Hall – The Fairy’s Fogou

Piskey’s Hall – The Fairy’s Fogou submitted by coin on 3rd Nov 2013. So... Getting to this site is a welcome voyage, arriving at the gate (higher than a normal one) I read a friendly sign- warning me of a bull... So the landowner obviously doesn't want people visiting this site. Climbing over the gate I am affronted with another welcoming feature- electric fence. Slipping under the offending wire, and edging around the field keeping an eye out for the bull of terror, I approach the mound if earth and stones. When I reach it, I am presented with another electric f...

Trevedra Common Tumuli submitted by Bladup on 14th Mar 2025. Trevedra Common Tumuli, In the blue ellipse is the remains of a ring barrow (SW37292754) with a low circular (and very ploughed) earth bank that was 10m in diameter and 0.2m high. There are no indications of an entrance to the inside of the circle and it was concluded that the feature is a ring barrow. In the green circle is a (ploughed) barrow (SW37442728) marked on the OS map of 1906, It was noted by Dudley in 1953 as having been destroyed in 1952 when the common land was made into farmland. R...
