Kilnsey submitted by rich32 on 22nd Jul 2004. Kilnsey Stone Circle, Kilnsey, North Yorks (SD951680) 1st of 2 candidates for Kilnsey stone circle, on co-ords given by Burl. This site is about 45 mins walk from the nearest path, all up hill with a few fences to clear. There appears to be 6 stones in the circle, one in the foreground is just about visible. Behind 4 of the stones were other stones, I couldn’t decide whether they were part of the original stones and had broken or had been placed. A further site about 40 meters away look...

Hoarstones

Hoarstones submitted by baz on 24th Sep 2001. The Hoarstones Stone Circle,Black Marsh,nr Shelve,Shrops.(SO324999) Access to this stone circle is more difficult than the map suggests.I took a circuitous route and, approaching from the south-west, across the fields I saw a circular patch of hay in a recently mown meadow. The tallest stone,at one metre, lies near the centre. This image was taken from inside the circle looking south past the central stone. Most of the other stones are hidden in the vegetation.
