The patch in the field middle right is the excavation area I think. The River Avon lies just to the right of this. (6th Dec, about 10.30am)

Oldbury Castle
Date Added: 26th Sep 2010
Site Type: Hillfort
Country: England (Wiltshire)
Visited: Yes on 25th Jul 2007

Oldbury Castle submitted by AngieLake on 25th Jul 2007. Not a perfect compilation, but gives an idea of the beautiful contours of the hill below Oldbury Castle at Cherhill. You can see the horse, the monument and the Iron Age hillfort.
[The rape is 'late' compared to crops here in Devon, which had gone by early June.]
This was taken early evening 7th July 07 [7pm?/7/7/07!] by the A4, en route to Avebury. I had wanted to climb up there one day, but didn't get around to it.
(Sorry about the quality. New photos tend to be a bit sticky, too!...

West Kennett Long Barrow
Date Added: 26th Sep 2010
Site Type: Long Barrow
Country: England (Wiltshire)
Visited: Yes on 3rd Aug 2007

West Kennett Long Barrow submitted by AngieLake on 3rd Aug 2007. Stone 23 stands on the right-hand side of WKLB end chamber. (Piggott and Atkinson's excavation plan in 1956-57 gives numbers to stones.)
I didn't notice any special features in these stones (see also No.s 21 and 22) when taking the photos, but from this angle a long face can be seen. (Long nose near right of pic, and small round eyes above, with small - 'o' - mouth lower right.)

Bratton Long Barrow
Date Added: 26th Sep 2010
Site Type: Long Barrow
Country: England (Wiltshire)
Visited: Yes on 13th Aug 2007

Bratton Long Barrow submitted by AngieLake on 13th Aug 2007. Looking at the barrow from the west end is deceiving, you'd never credit how long it is.
Here you can see how it lies on the northern-facing slope near the top of the hill, inside Bratton Camp fortifications.

Bratton Camp submitted by AngieLake on 13th Aug 2007. The Westbury White Horse and Bratton Camp's western embankments.
This shows a little more of the panoramic view to the north than Jim's pic did, except it doesn't show the horrid factory!

Great Cursus Barrows, Stonehenge
Date Added: 26th Sep 2010
Site Type: Round Barrow(s)
Country: England (Wiltshire)
Visited: Yes on 2nd Jan 2009

Great Cursus Barrows, Stonehenge submitted by AngieLake on 2nd Jan 2009. I think some people will be shocked by the view of Stonehenge from the Cursus Barrows. The stones are almost hidden behind the buildings and vehicles in the car park.
The site of the mesolithic posts would be at the right here, with the western one behind the toilet block.

Figsbury Rings
Date Added: 26th Sep 2010
Site Type: Hillfort
Country: England (Wiltshire)
Visited: Yes on 25th Feb 2010

Figsbury Rings submitted by AngieLake on 25th Feb 2010. I don't think the late John Michell would begrudge us the sight of this photo [credited to 'Cambridge University collection'] on page 81 of 'A Little History of Astro-Archaeology', 2001 edition, Thames & Hudson.
Thom's plan shows a mound which would have been visible from Stonehenge as a mark of a southern extreme of the moon.

Normanton Down submitted by AngieLake on 14th May 2010. Stonehenge from Normanton Down, just near the junction of the very busy A303. With the large round barrow to SW of Stonehenge behind me, this view to NE lines up with the 'spine' of Stone 16 in the SW arc of the sarsen circle.
