Conon Bridge submitted by Creative Commons on 17th Sep 2011. Henge in Conon Bridge This ancient earthwork lies incongruously among modern housing close to the centre of the village of Conon Bridge. It almost certainly dates from at least 2000BC. It's amazing that it has survived! Copyright Richard Dorrell and licensed for reuse under the Creative Commons Licence.

Crystal River Archaeological State Park

Crystal River Archaeological State Park submitted by Andy B on 9th Jan 2011. The Crystal River archaeological site is made up of a group of shell middens, burial mounds and platform mounds. These features comprise a larger ceremonial complex of plazas and other landscape features. Two large platform mounds on the site are believed to have been used primarily for ceremonial purposes. Thier size, structural uniformity and distinctive flat tops set them apart from the other mounds and middens at the site, denoting their special purpose. Wikimedia Commons Image

Cut Hill Stone Row

Site Type: Stone Row / Alignment Country: England (Devon)

Cut Hill Stone Row

Cut Hill Stone Row submitted by Andy B on 10th Apr 2010. Cut Hill is in North Dartmoor. It is one of the most isolated places of Dartmoor. The panoramic views from the summit are among the best that Dartmoor offers. Cut Hill is largely surrounded by wet and tussocky ground. The high fen is not far away. The word Cut derives from an old drovers' track - Cut Lane - which cuts through the fen that separates the Dart and Tavy valleys and thus allowed the more easy passage of livestock across the moor. Deerleap Wood

Deerleap Wood submitted by Andy B on 17th Apr 2005. I revisited Deerleap Wood barrow in Spring 2005, fearing what the trees planted in 1997 might have done. Remarkably the trees look identical, so I can only assume the previous lot of trees was cut down and new ones planted. These shouldn't really be planted on one of the most significant barrows in Surrey, should they?
