Soar Stone

Soar Stone submitted by TimPrevett on 2nd Jul 2002. Parking a little way to the south in a layby. Near Black Lion pub. Access by a gate. The stone: I estimated 10 feet tall, covered with lichen.

Log Text: While Soar Stone deserves the same attention as any other menhir, its location along A.5025 isn't flattering.

Log Text: The closest you can come by car is the car park (64.263337, -21.117194). From there, a walkway leads you as far as the church and old cemetery.
The path to the valley supposed to be just on top of the dividing line Europe-America (where two tectonic plates pull the Atlantic floor apart) is asphalted at first, then more rocky (and you are not supposed to go that far... Naughty, naughty, naughty, I did !).
Try to come before 09.00 : there are still hardly any tourists and, at 09.00 on the dot, you will attend the raising of the flag.
