Log Text: I am intrigued as to why this is also called 'Chastleton Barrow' - could 'Barrow' be a corruption of 'Bury' (in the local dialect where there 'y' is not pronounced) - and it is still populated by horses -

Log Text: To the Archaeology tutor and his faithful 'pupils' - your perseverance and tenacity (in 1972) paid off (see site narrative) - I hope Severn-Trent Water Board (thus they are now known) need to refurbish pipes etc again and that people of your calibre are brought in to investigate - pity about the reservoirs - they are a dreadful eyesore

A surprisingly high long barrow made into a landscape feature by Scots pines planted on it in l890, just off a footpath. Planting up barrow protects from the plough, even tree roots destroy the barrow features. The area is still called Barrow piece.
