Log Text: Take one stable owner with several reels of electric fencing making horse pens, combine him/her with the local badger community and what do you get? - a seriously damaged round/bell barrow fast becoming an eyesore - never mind the potential for an electric shock even on the Public Footpath!!! Pity because the older part of Bitton can be quite pretty - never mind the Boyd and Avon Valleys

Burnt Hill Dolmen

Burnt Hill Dolmen submitted by hamish on 4th Apr 2006. We went looking for a Tumulus on our way to Adlestrop Hill. it was pretty well wrecked. There was supposed to be a Standing Stone which may be this.
(View photo, vote or add a comment)

Log Text: Now that excavations have taken place what was originally thought to be a collection of rugge/rugg stones gathered over many hundreds/thousands years of field clearance has been declared to be a chambered tomb over which a 'more modern' (still a couple of hundred years old!) field dry stone wall was built - more detail to follow

Cadbury Hill submitted by Creative Commons on 20th Jul 2012. This Ancient fort, directly under the flight path from Bristol International Airport, is on top of Cadbury Hill and must have been an easily defendable position. Whilst wooded all around the top is kept clear by occasional grazing. Owned by Yatton Parish Council it provides open access and excellent walks for the public. Camp Barrow North

Camp Barrow North submitted by hamish on 23rd Feb 2004. Camp Barrow North - the remains of the Portal. SO914091.Near Bisley.
(View photo, vote or add a comment)

Log Text: North is a Long Barrow and South a Round Barrow according to most commentators - I am not sure I agree - perhaps N was a Long Barrow when it was whole but then S now still looks like a small Long Barrow rather than a Round one (but it is marked Tumulus on the OS Map) or was the RB built on the S end of the LB
