Log Text: To the Archaeology tutor and his faithful 'pupils' - your perseverance and tenacity (in 1972) paid off (see site narrative) - I hope Severn-Trent Water Board (thus they are now known) need to refurbish pipes etc again and that people of your calibre are brought in to investigate - pity about the reservoirs - they are a dreadful eyesore

Farmcote gatepost submitted by h_fenton on 31st Aug 2008. An old stone gatepost(?- no hinges) at Farmcote in Gloucestershire (Cotswolds near Winchcombe). Most stone gateposts across the cotswolds are square in section c.40x40cm and stand upto 1.5metres high with a rounded top. This gatepost is unusual, in that it is a rough triangular shaped stone which has then been extensively carved and shaped on three sides, with recesses that suggest it had wooden posts tightly against it, plus some small rectangular sockets of unknown function.
