Cour du Breuil dolmen

Cour du Breuil dolmen submitted by thecaptain on 9th Dec 2005. Right by the roadside, this is a pleasant dolmen to find, with the large skeletal remains standing slightly hidden by a surrounding hedge, from where they suddenly jump out at you as you pass along the road.

Derreenataggart

Derreenataggart submitted by Johnny on 21st Jun 2002. Derreenataggart Stone Circle, Co. Cork (V665 463): Derreenataggart is both easily accessible and a fine example of an axial or recumbent stone circle. It is now incomplete: of an original fifteen or so stones, nine remain erect and three are now prostrate. The stones are graded in height increasing from the stones adjacent to the recumbent, c0.4m in height, up to the stones in the portal area which would have been close to 2.5m in height. The circle has an E-W equinoctial alignment and ha...

Peyre d'Ermale submitted by thecaptain on 7th Dec 2005. Peyre d'Ermale. I had no idea what this is meant to be and indeed no idea whether this is the proper megalithic remains! Later I find out that this is indeed the remains of a megalithic burial chamber (dolmen a bit incorrect perhaps). And that there is also a menhir nearby.

Caer-Dyni

Caer-Dyni submitted by DavidRaven on 25th Jul 2004. Grid Ref: SH 511 383 A forlorn little burial chamber, near the railway line east of Criccieth. The slipped capstone has a notch in it. There seems to be a significant number of smaller stones around the base of the rocks; almost as if it could've been the remains of a cairn?! The stone that still supports the capstone appears to be a different rock type from the rest, like a coarse sandstone...
