Over the past few years I've been exploring the ancient monuments of Cornwall and Dartmoor, and also managed to make our holidays in Portugal and Malta all about old stones. My interest in archaeology and prehistory is a hobby, but it meshes deeply with my artwork. My first dig was last year and it was very exciting. I spend quite a bit of time sketching in the field, exploring the landscape context and the stones of Neolithic and bronze age monuments. I'm currently working on a project 'Walking with Stones’, which explores these sites through walking, painting and drawing. I'm interested in the interaction between monuments, landscape, and people and my research has opened a number of interesting themes I've yet to fully delve into. I'm currently working on a collection of ink drawings, and my research has drawn me towards the antiquarian accounts of the sites that I've visited.
