Description
So sad that people would treat an ancient monument like this, and drive straight over it. The tyre tracks would seem to indicate some recent activity, although the stones on top of the barrow are well bedded in. Perhaps just very deep impression in the ground which have yet to fill in.
At the time of our visit, some paragliders were up on the plateau (centre/centre-left of the photo), although there wasn't sufficient wind for them to take off, despite valiant efforts trying. That would have made a great photo - human kites over the top of this ancient monument.

Great set of photo's Anne and I'm 100% with you, why are our ancient monuments treated like this? How many barrows, ring cairns etc have we lost to the plough from years ago and will never be recovered? I'm surprised that are remaining ancient sites are not better protected (physically) not just in writing.

It would have been a great sight if they were flying. It brings to mind the motorised paraglider [or was that two?] that flew over towards us all as dawn broke at Stonehenge one Summer Solstice. Mesmerising.
