This is George Chaplin. Sorry I did not step in to correct you earlier. Yes,
no planning application has been received. The article in the Ripon Gazette you
quoted actually stated that Anglo American, Tarmac's parent company had
confirmed to the Friends of Thornborough that the planning application was
to be submitted soon.
Yes, there have been some carefully chosen words. The question asked
yesterday was - "has there been any proposals for quarrying?" The answer was
given - "There are currently no planning applications for, and not even any
discussions about, quarrying around the middle and southern henges."
The answer should have been - "Yes there is a proposal which looks at the
possibility of quarrying close to both of these henges".
I'll say no more.
