Some of the most serious and dedicated people on site have left recently - some after 5 years of living up in the trees . . .
There is a genuine sense of the unknown on site at the moment as Stancliffe might give up their rights on the 2 current quarries to get rights to expand other quarries around the moor. I think some protestors are uncertain as to the future. I have always found them to be helpful, interesting, dedicated and serious about what they are doing. I can only presume you caught them after a night on the ale.
Why not go back and see what you find the second time. head down to the communal bender and introduce yourself. Take some food and anything else you think might be useful and you will make friends and see the real site.
Another winter on the moors - a massive amount of dedication - it gets really cold and windy up there.
I have nothing but the deepest respect for most of the people on site (there are always a few exceptions and hangers-on).
Try again and see what you find - open your heart and love will flood in.
