I am totally in awe of the effort by all involved to have produced this wonderful book.
I have already put it to good use and chose a site to visit whilst I was in Pembrokeshire recently. The photograph in the book was very appealing. I was telling my friend along the way how sometimes I feel a calling to a specific sight and that there can be great synchronicity or coincidence that leads me to that point. This particular monument wasn't so straight forward to find as it turned out. Not one to give up easily, especially after an hour's drive, I persisted with the search to eventually find entrance to the woodland that it was in. A short while later my friend and I bumped into a lady walking her dogs. We asked where the stones were and she said she was on her way there so we could follow her. To cut a long story short....she was the person who took the photograph of the site in the book! :-)

The book we've all been waiting for

There are a great many great books on this subject but this has to go somewhere near the top of the list.
Inspiring photography and a minefield of information. Not only are some 1,000 sites listed but there are numerous information pages on all manner of subjects (Welsh place names, stone axes, the stone rows of Dartmoor are just three of these fascinating stories).
Crucially, map and gps co-ordinates are given to help you pinpoint the locations. I've used these before from the associated 'megalithic portal' website and found them to be invaluable.
Buy it as a present and help preserve our prehistoric heritage.

An important publication on ancient monuments

If you have an interest in ancient monuments then you must own this book. It is wonderfully edited by Andy Burnham - a man dedicated to stone studies. The photography is the product of the very best shots out of many thousands of shots on The Megalithic Portal. The layout is clear, engaging and considered. As much a reference book as an almanac...5 stars for certain.

My dad loves it!

My dad is a big history buff and can't drive past a stone circle without stopping to look at it, so I hoped that this would be the book for him. And it is - he loves it. It's a real bumper guide to all things pre-historic old stone-related. The design is fantastic - it's a very easy to use reference guide, well laid out and with nice images. The content itself is well edited to give you the main background but drown the reader in dry information. It's a fascinating book that would be perfect for anyone interested in the subject.

Wonderful book

This is a great catalogue of megalithic sites. The book is logically broken down into regions and then into countries and is a list of the sites, photos, description and details on finding and accessing the site. Each region has a map which shows the relative location of each site so a roadtrip can be planned.
The book also has a good number of well written essays which explore a particular area.
This book truly is wonderful if sites such as this are your thing and this is highly recommended
