I Have had this book for only a couple of days and my first impression is of a very well produced book which wil make an excellent guide and trip planner for visiting the impressive range of sites included in the book.
This is a large book for use in the field but motorised visitors will find it manageable for use out and about.
The layout of the book is clear with regions colour coded and particularly interesting sites highlighted with a star; special articles are included throughout the book and are clearly identified by a grey background isolating that information from the field information.
This is an impressive book and reflects the huge effort that must have gone into producing it.
The only confusing feature I have found in the book is the apparently random use of a black background and white print used for some pages!
I use field guides a lot for various natural history interests and expect a strong visual cue like this to indicate something of major significance. In this book I am at a loss to understand its significance other than as an affectation of the graphic designer! Perhaps a more enlightened user can correct me here.
Overall I rate this book very highly and recommend it to anyone interested in visiting Megalithic sites in Britain and Ireland. It deserves to be in everyone's collection if not in their rucksac.
