From my recent experiences, some are so well hidden in the woods that you cant even see them from 5 metres away !
One place I remember, not far from Carnac believe it or not, is so neglected that after an hour or so of searching amongst the gorse and bracken I was about to give up. Then two chaps on mountain bikes came past and assumed I was lost, and we got talking, and they got their map out. I was pretty certain I knew exactly where I was, and it wasnt where they pointed to, telling me the dolmen was near to a different track.
As I had decided to give up, I started walking back to my van, but had one last look in amongst the gorse on the way, and there I caught a glimpse of a capstone sitting on two uprights, less than 5 metres from the track. I mentioned this to the two bikers, who didnt believe me, but came for a look. This of course started a big discussion amongst themselves, as it was they who were lost !
But this wasnt a complete winner for me, as when I got back and looked in more references, I found out that there were in fact two, fairly big dolmens hidden somewhere in that mass of gorse, and I hadnt got a remote idea of what either looked like.
Something is not right. This message is just to keep things from messing up down the road
