No we dont want to see razor wire etc, but the chances are that in the not to distant future some sort of action will be taken to prevent access.
The site is managed very well at the moment by both National Trust and the Pagan Volunteer Goup who organise clear-up's of the site, but the reality is that it cannot cope with large numbers of people who abuse the site.
How often do we see areas roped off because of errossion?
I do sympathise with the villages, however it is a minority of people (as is always the case) who cause the problems.
These are the same people who bang on about saving the planet and how we should live in peace & harmony (Man!) and then totaly contradict themselves by their anti-social behaviour.
I recently held my handfasting (pagan wedding) at Avebury. There was about 50 guests who managed to enjoy themselves without inflicting carnage on this site. Everyone we spoke to in the village was friendly and welcomed us with open arms, and is a shame that this sort of thing sours the good name of the few who respect not only the site, but the people who live their as well.
