I was also at this gathering and witnessed the 'King Arthur' fiasco, and I agree absolutely with this post. As a Pagan of many years, I was deeply ashamed and embarrassed by what went on. I was there with a non-Pagan friend and he could so easily have got a totally false impression of what the Pagan path is all about. Fortunately he had the wisdom to see through 'King Arthur's' delusional behaviour, and the right royal hissy fit in fact provoked some very interesting and stimulating discussion on the way home!
But what I really want to say is how impressed I was personally at the calm dignity of the Arch-Druid, who handled the situation with wonderful quiet authority. The contrast between her demeanour and the alcohol-fuelled rantings of 'King Arthur' spoke volumes.
And like you, I truly hope this poor man gets professional help. Blessings.
