Actually, in most parts of the world, the Solstice time was either sunrise, sunset or midday high noon. Since most of the Star Knowledge sites have been worked over by a variety of non-indigenous or non-local users over the past 500 years of invasions of various types (predominantly religious based, and not interested in the sites' real uses,) it is not surprising that the contemporary clutch of people don't get it.

In no time was the marking of the Solstice associated with any crop planting. That has more to do with lunar phases.
However, the events associated with eclipses, especially marking the eclipses of the Sun traditionally have bad effects on crops or livestock. Therefore the lithic recording places that mark Celestial events generally make reference to problem times for the locals to have a heads up to take care of those needs another way.
The one I will be sending as a pix there is from an area that was used (and is continuously used despite clovis gang banger suppression of the information) since it was a small rocky outcrop island in a marsh. That has been dry and in the middle of a desert for more than 18,000 years. There are many American Indian languages included in the inscriptions there, Americans have always been able to read and write in their own languages. This particular inscription is Cahuilla, Ancient Martin Tribe. It is a depiction of Mukat and Tiamat, and the summer and winter solstice “lights” indicate Tiamat lighting Mukat’s pipe and then Mukat smoking his heart to save the People from the ensuing disaster (Celestial, likely meteors.) They are Suprime Beings to the Cahuilla, for good reason. It is likely the marsh and all the water dried up after the event. So it is probable that this particular Solstice inscription and Chamber was created between 22,000-18,000 years ago prior to and during the meteoric event.
