I know very little about either Offa's dyke or Wat's dyke, even though I live very close to both. I seem to recall that when excavation works were carried out in the village of Ffrith, near to Wrexham, they discovered Roman coins. They were cutting through the dyke in order to effect access to the village playing field. Whether this has any bearing on your discussion regarding the age of the dyke I have no idea, but it may be of some interest.
