A Saros is the cycle of similar eclipses every 18 years, the ancients would have had to know about the anomalistic month, let alone the draconic when they'd need to know when the moon crosses the plane of the ecliptic. They would certainly need to know their stuff, and I doubt if the "People of these ancient times (c.3,000 B.C.)" in Britain would have.
