Thanks for posting the article. I have spent many years thinking about the possibilities available to a megalithic society re: observing the Saros and using the Saros. I don't think that all sites were involved.
The sites I know best in Scotland are quite often near to the sea (e.g. Argyle and Arran). I hope someone can help answer my question: were standing stones used as
tidal predictors?
The two most important things to look at are
1. was the Saros cycle observed directly - and is there evidence at sites of
this. and
2. Is it possible for data re the Saros to be derived from the
other lunar cycle (18.61 years) that was definitely observed.
I am 50% sure that the Saros was used in this way. It may never be proven that it
was-but the question is very important.
